People that comes to the United States usually have an intention that they will be away from their mother country for a while. There are still people that travel back to their native country while there are some that buy a piece of land in America but go to another place and work there. United States was not a place to control how many immigrants stay and leave, until something big like World War I occurs and the immigrants are restricted to leave the country. Transnational ism is when the immigrants are still socially connected to their native country.
There are cases where immigrants take control of what America offers and use it as their advantage knowing they will return. The people that immigrated to America never really forget the people in their homeland, they have what finer calls it, "transnational household" (Gmelch p. 365). Transnational household means that family members are scattered to other region of the world. Immigrants have taken advantage and come over to America to own land and purchase a house so when they come visit they will have a home to go to.
United states realized how the people that is bringing good back from their native country have brought an increase to economy and having more tourist come to America was a positive effect. Many immigrants have brought their descendants back to their native countries more. So the connection between the people that lives in America will not be so different from their relative or family that live elsewhere.
I believe that it's a good thing to have ties with your home country because it's a culture that's not easily forgotten. I know my family still keep in touch with family back home, living in another country does not mean they will forget where their origin is from. It builds cultural diversity in America but it great to know it attracts other people to come over and it also attracts so many tourists.
